ESG has emerged as a crucial trend in global development and corporate practices. In recent years, the Hong Kong government has been actively promoting ESG initiatives, emphasizing the shift towards waste-to-energy solutions and reducing reliance on landfills for waste management. On January 6th, Victory Securities organized a guided tour for our staff to visit the T·PARK facility, delving into the forefront of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) concepts while gaining insights into its circular economy operating model.
T·PARK is one of the largest and most technologically advanced sludge treatment facility in the world, specifically design to incinerate the foul wet sludge generated by 11 sewage treatment plants in Hong Kong and transform it into ash and residues, reducing the sludge volume by approximately 90%. As the sludge burns, energy is conducted in the form of steam, which is then transformed into electricity to power the entire plant’s operation. Not only is the T·PARK entirely self-sufficient, it also supplies its surplus electricity back into the public power grid, making it a prime example of "waste-to-energy" innovation.
The trip helped the staff of Victory Securities understand the importance of ESG and how it relates to business operations. Drawing from examples like T·PARK, we explored the feasibility of promoting innovative technologies and ESG initiatives in the financial sector, offering inspiration and guidance for the company's sustainable development. We are committed to integrating financial technology with ESG practices to make a positive contribution to society.
